This course explores human resources management in health care organizations. The overarching goal of the course is to help students develop an understanding of the concept of strategic human resources management, and the need for alignment between HR practices and an organization's strategy and mission as well as nursing standards and practice policies. The course is organized around the employee lifecycle and covers fundamental human resource functions, including: job analysis, recruiting and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, and employee retention. The course also includes a thorough review of the legal and regulatory environment of human resources management. Prerequisites: 500, 508, and 516. 3 S.H.
