The purpose of this course is to analyze and evaluate the concepts of the normal physiology and pathologic mechanisms of disease to serve as the foundation for clinical assessment, response to pharmacologic management of disease, decision making and disease management across the lifespan. Analysis of the impact of diagnostics and assessment findings enables the student to develop diagnostic reasoning by interpreting changes in normal function that result in symptoms indicating illness. Course content focuses on alterations in cell function and systemic manifestations using selected, prevalent disease states across the lifespan.
